Vitigno Chardonnay - Agricola Marrone

Grandfather Carlo planted his Chardonnay vineyards in the Madonna di Como area in 1978 and was among the first to introduce international grapes to the Langhe, in vineyards facing south-west, at an altitude of 350 m.

The soil of these hills, which are of recent geological formation, is mainly calcareous on the surface, with a high presence of quartz sand and very fine limestone, alternating with compact layers of grey sandstone. This soil is ideal for red wines and was consequently able to produce grapes of such great structure that work began on the production of “Memundis” Chardonnay, Agricola Marrone’s leading white wine.
